Use this free tool to compress an image and reduce its file size. If you need a very small target (like ~20KB), you may need higher compression and sometimes resizing, depending on the original image.
Recommended: Start around 60% and adjust until the file size looks right for your use (forms, web upload, email).
File size depends on resolution, details, and format. Photos with lots of texture need more data. Reaching an exact number sometimes requires resizing plus compression.
For photos, JPG is usually smaller. For logos/screenshots, PNG can look sharper but may be larger. If your server supports WEBP, it can often reduce size further.
Avoid uploading sensitive personal images. If your tool processes files on the server, consider deleting uploads automatically after processing.
Smaller images load faster, use less data, and can improve the experience on mobile connections. They’re also easier to upload to forms that have strict size limits.
If the output is still too large, try a higher compression level or use a smaller image resolution. If your output looks too pixelated, reduce compression and resize the image instead.
